    Child Dies in Fort Pierce Dirt Bike Crash Involving FedEx Truck

    FORT PIERCE, FL – July, 2026 – A 9-year-old boy died and another child was injured after a gas-bike collided with a FedEx delivery truck in Fort Pierce. The fatal collision occurred Monday afternoon along East Midway Road in St. Lucie County.

    According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 3:07 p.m. near the driveway of 606 East Midway Road.

    Investigators reported that a ProTaper dirt bike carrying two children was traveling eastbound along the sidewalk on the north side of the road. A FedEx box truck was traveling southbound from a residential driveway and had stopped within the sidewalk area.

    The front of the dirt bike then struck the front-right bumper of the delivery truck, according to the preliminary FHP investigation.

    The 9-year-old boy operating the dirt bike was transported to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital; however, he later died from his injuries. Meanwhile, authorities said the second child went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    The 53-year-old FedEx truck driver suffered no injuries.

    WPBF 25 News spoke with the delivery driver, who was identified only as Rob. He said he had completed a delivery and, as he was leaving the property, the dirt bike struck his truck. Additionally, the driver told WPBF that the children were not wearing helmets at the time of the collision.

    Following the accident, FedEx expressed condolences to the family and loved ones affected by the crash. Meanwhile, company also said it was cooperating with local authorities during the investigation.

    Florida Highway Patrol investigators remained at the scene for several hours while reconstructing the collision. However, officials have not announced whether they will issue citations or file criminal charges.

    The investigation remains active. Authorities had not publicly released the children’s identities at the time of the latest available reports.
