ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FL, October 25, 2026: A 27-year-old woman from Pensacola died, and two men suffered serious injuries, after a head-on crash late Sunday night at West Michigan Avenue and Sun Valley Drive in Escambia County.
In the meantime, the Florida Highway Patrol is actively investigating the crash to determine what happened and who was involved.
According to FHP, the Escambia County head-on crash happened around 11:45 p.m. at the intersection of West Michigan Avenue, State Road 296 and Sun Valley Drive. Investigators reported that a 36-year-old man from Milton was driving an SUV eastbound in the left lane of Michigan Avenue.
At the same time, the 27-year-old woman was driving a sedan westbound in the inside eastbound lane. As a result, the vehicles collided head-on.
However, FHP has not said why the sedan was traveling against traffic.
FHP said the woman died at the scene. So far, officials have not publicly released her identity.
Additionally, the SUV driver and his 24-year-old male passenger from Pace suffered serious injuries. Emergency crews then took both men to a local hospital. Still, authorities have not provided an update on their conditions.
For now, FHP confirmed that the investigation continues. Furthermore, the agency has not identified contributing factors such as impairment, distraction, excessive speed, or a medical emergency. Finally, investigators have not reached conclusions about fault beyond the preliminary information.
