DEERFIELD BEACH, Broward County, FL, September 12, 2026: An 18-year-old motorcyclist and a juvenile girl died in a serious Deerfield Beach motorcycle crash on West Hillsboro Boulevard, Saturday evening. Meanwhile, hospitals transported five other people for treatment after the crash.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Broward County Regional Communications first began receiving crash reports at about 8:30 p.m. Soon afterward, BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded.
The crash occurred in the 4100 block of West Hillsboro Boulevard, west of Florida’s Turnpike. At that point, Traffic Homicide investigators said a 2017 Nissan Sentra was traveling eastbound in the left turn lane on West Hillsboro Boulevard.
Then, the Nissan’s driver began making a U-turn to head westbound as a 2022 Suzuki motorcycle traveled westbound on Hillsboro Boulevard. As the car turned, the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the Nissan. Consequently, the impact flipped the Nissan.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office identified the motorcyclist as Maxwell Patel, 18, of Parkland. Patel died at the scene.
Meanwhile, a juvenile girl riding in the Nissan was taken to Broward Health Medical Center; however, she later died from her injuries. Initially, authorities withheld her identity under Florida’s Marsy’s Law.
Additionally, investigators reported that six people were in the Nissan at the time of the crash. Following the collision, paramedics took the adult driver and a juvenile boy to Broward Health North. Later, doctors airlifted the boy to Broward Health Medical Center for further treatment.
In addition, paramedics transported two other adults and another juvenile to Broward Health Medical Center. As of the latest update, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said the two surviving juveniles remained in critical condition.
Overall, seven people were involved in the Deerfield Beach motorcycle crash: the motorcyclist and the six Nissan occupants. At this point, BSO Traffic Homicide detectives are investigating what caused the crash. However, the sheriff’s office has not made a final fault determination or identified any contributing factors.
For now, details may change as detectives review physical evidence, witness statements, and other records.
