TAMPA, FL – March, 2026 – All northbound lanes of I-75 have reopened near Bruce B Downs Blvd. in Hillsborough County after a fatal crash tied up traffic for hours during the morning commute, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. What we know: Troopers said a Tampa man was driving northbound in the outer lane of I-75 at about 6 a.m. Tuesday when he hit the rear of a Chevy box truck while attempting to pass it, part of the tragic sequence of events leading up to the I-75 crash near Bruce B Downs Boulevard.
After the impact, troopers said the box truck ended up stopped on the highway shoulder, while the Tampa man’s Dodge 1500 overturned multiple times, ejecting him into the middle lanes.
