HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – August 2025 – A 20-year-old woman died after a multi-car crash on a highway in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened Sunday night when a 16-year-old Plant City boy was driving eastbound on I-4. He lost control of his Honda Civic on the wet road and crashed into the concrete barrier wall on the shoulder before stopping in the travel lanes of the interstate, according to a news release.
Troopers said the woman from Orlando was also traveling eastbound in her Toyota Corolla when she collided with the Honda before coming to a stop in the median.
Then, a 24-year-old Lakeland man driving a Toyota Camry was driving eastbound when he swerved to avoid the Honda and hit the Orlando woman who had exited her car.
Troopers said the woman was fatally injured and died at the scene of the crash.
