MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – November, 2025 – Two people died and two others were seriously injured after back-to-back wrong-way crashes in the northbound lanes near Bird Road around 4 a.m., according to FHP. (CBS News)
How did the crashes unfold?
FHP says a southbound blue Honda in the wrong-way northbound lanes hit a silver Toyota head-on. A white Toyota, also going south in the northbound lanes, then struck the disabled cars and a responding FHP vehicle. The trooper was outside the cruiser and unhurt. (CBS News)
Were there fatalities and injuries?
The Honda and silver Toyota drivers died at the scene. Two people in the white Toyota were airlifted to Kendall HCA with serious injuries after the wrong-way collision. (CBS News)
Was traffic impacted?
All northbound lanes were shut down and traffic was diverted to Bird Road during the investigation due to the wrong-way incident. (CBS News)
What is the status of the investigation?
FHP has not publicly identified those involved. A family member identified one victim as 23-year-old Gustavo Adolfo Palma Romero. Investigators are still determining where the drivers entered the wrong-way route. (CBS News)
