Vien was born in Vientiane, Laos. Her family came to the U.S. when Vien was 13 years old and did not speak a word of English. Vien has lived in the Tampa Bay area since. She grew up in St. Petersburg and now lives in Tampa. Vien received her bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of South Florida. She then attended the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where she obtained her J.D. While she attended Cooley, she was a member of Phi Delta Phi (PDP), the International Legal Honor Society.
Vien has chaired a community involvement program where she raised money and awareness for one of her favorite non-profit organizations; the March of Dimes. She has also volunteered for the Metropolitan Ministries, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, Paint Your Heart Out Tampa/Clearwater, and many others.
Vien has five sons in the U.S. Space Force and U.S. Air Force, a pug named Oscar and a Frenchie named Sophia.
Vien speaks Lao and Thai fluently. In her free time, she loves to cook and spend time with family and friends.
