Luis is a Florida Board Certified Specialist in Civil Trial Litigation. Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., He received his undergraduate degree from the State University of NY at Geneseo, receiving Graduate of the Year recognition. He then attended Law School at Syracuse University, earning his Juris Doctor with high honors in 1979. While a student at both universities, He received recognition awards for his scholastic achievements and community service. Luis served as a Police Legal Adviser for the City of Tampa and has been the lead trial attorney for several major insurance companies. Luis has tried numerous cases on both state and federal levels throughout Florida. Luis has several reported decisions from Florida Appellate Courts and the Florida Supreme Court.
Since 2002, He has concentrated his efforts exclusively for clients that have been injured by the negligence of others.
Luis has been featured as a lecturer in Tort Litigation and Ethics by several professional organizations and has also been published in several legal periodicals. He is a former vice president of the Puerto Rican Bar Association of Florida, a past officer of the Hispanic Bar Association of Central Florida, a Board member of the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association. and has served on the Florida Bar Continuing Education Committee.
Luis remains active in various legal, civic and religious organizations including The Krewe of the Knights of Sant’ Yago and the Italian Club of Tampa. He has held membership in the Seminole County Bar Association, the Orange County Bar Association, The Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association, The St Petersburg Bar Association, The Central Florida Trial Lawyers Association, The Puerto Rican Bar Association and the Tampa Bay Hispanic Bar Association. Luis is admitted to practice in all Florida State Courts, the Federal Middle District Court of Florida, the Federal Northern District Court of Florida, the Federal Southern District Court of Florida, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
