FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – April, 2026 – A devoted dad of three has died after a deadly traffic crash in Florida.
On the morning of March 25, Kristopher David was driving his white BMW to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, where he was employed as a fueler, when a black Audi slammed into the side of his vehicle, according to CBS News and NBC 6. CBS reported that after striking David’s car, the Audi then collided with a Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue fire engine.
David, 33, along with another person, was transported to the hospital after the impact. His mother, Loretta Matthew David, told CBS that her son arrived in critical condition and was later placed on life support.
David died from his injuries a day after the crash. His mother described the heartbreaking goodbye, telling CBS she put her hand on his chest and reassured her only child that it was all right to let go.
“I always said to him, you are my heartbeat. If your heart stops, mine will,” she told the outlet.
NBC 6 reported that David leaves behind three daughters. Loretta told CBS that his oldest child, 12, has been struggling deeply with the loss. David was also engaged and had been looking forward to getting married this fall, per NBC 6.
The crash happened at Broward Boulevard and Seventh Avenue, where security video captured what unfolded, CBS said. According to the outlet, the footage shows David’s white BMW slowly entering the intersection before the Audi struck it.
“I watched a snippet of it,” his mother said about the surveillance video. “There was no way that Kristopher could have avoided what happened. There was no way he could have.”
Loretta also directed a message to the other driver, who has not been publicly identified. “He took my only baby away from me, and nothing I do will bring him back,” she said.
